Cheryl McQueen

Cheryl became fascinated with traditional Appalachian music in her teens when a traditional instrument shop specializing in mountain dulcimers opened in her small hometown in northern Ohio.  After college and getting married, Cheryl and her late husband moved to northern Vermont with her brother following them shortly thereafter. The trio formed an old time Appalachian string band called "The Jake Leg Hobblers" in which Cheryl played backup guitar and sang. The band performed at festivals, contradances, coffeehouses, and on the radio in northern Vermont. They also accompanied a clogging group who performed frequently at festivals in northern Vermont. In recent years, Cheryl's interest has turned to traditional Irish music with her main interest in the C#/D Irish button accordion (aka "the box"). Cheryl regularly attends the annual Catskills Irish Arts Week (East Durham, NY) where she has taken classes with world famous box players Jackie Daly and David Munnelly.  She also enjoys playing the mandolin while singing traditional songs from the UK and Appalachia.
